Dear Loveleaf Co. readers,
In the past, I have not spoken out publicly about anything political or social on Loveleaf Co. but in light of George Floyd’s death, I am no longer remaining silent. Black Lives Matter.
This week, I’m pressing pause on regular food and organization content to listen, reflect, learn, and take action against racial injustice. If you need a place to start, like I did, here are two resources I’m finding extremely helpful:
- Anti-Racism Resources
- 30-Day #DoTheWork Course by Rachel Cargle (linked in her Instagram bio here).
Resources like these addressing anti-racism have always been available, I just wasn’t looking before (why it took me until now to look is a question I have to answer for myself).
Instead of being stuck in confusion, unsure about what to do, or worried about doing it wrong, here’s my personal plan: just start. Decide to take one action today (and be listening, learning, and unlearning at the same time). And then wake up and decide to take action again. And again (and again…).
For the month of June, I’m donating 100% of Loveleaf Co. product sales to the NAACP and the Central Brooklyn Food Coop, which is on a mission to ensure access to affordable and fresh food for the Black communities of Central Brooklyn.
Moving forward beyond June, I am actively researching and will commit a percentage of Loveleaf Co. monthly revenue to support access to fresh and healthy food in communities that need it most.
Thank you for reading and being part of this community. Sending you love.
